Car Insurance

Having car insurance in the United States demonstrates that you are capable of assuming responsibility for any damages in the event of an accident.

While some states vary in liability insurance requirements, all states have some form of law requiring drivers to demonstrate financial responsibility by carrying a liability policy.

Otherwise, you would have to show proof of income to be able to pay medical bills or damage to the affected vehicle (even more so if you are at fault for the accident).

If you cannot provide this proof, legal penalties may include:

  • Fines

  • Suspension of driver's license

  • Suspension of your car's registration

If you don't have car insurance, you could face financial catastrophe if you're involved in an accident and can't afford to pay for the damages.
